Pankaj Kalita (Ph.D.) is an Assistant Professor at the School of Energy Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. He has more than 4 years of teaching and 10 years of research experience in the field of renewable energy (solar energy, thermochemical and biochemical conversion of biomass and energy storage), Thermal management of PVT, and Li-ion battery pack, and Energy Management. He has published more than 50 peer reviewed research papers in various reputed journals, 12 book chapters and more than 20 conference papers. He has implemented many research and consultancy projects. At present two research projects are in progress in the areas of energy storage, and renewable energy integration for remote electrification. He was a recipient of India's Distinguished Visiting Fellow awarded by the University of Nottingham, the United Kingdom in 2010. He was also selected for attending the prestigious India-UK young scientist networking conference on low carbon technologies held during 2-3 December 2009 in Kolkata organized by British Council Kolkata. He has also represented IIT Guwahati in the 2nd Winter School held at Gifu University, Japan in 2016. He has been awarded an early career research award by Science Engineering Research Board (SERB), DST, Govt. of India. Kim Burlinson Teaches science at Los Gatos High School Amelia DeLaPaz earned a BS in geological and environmental science and an MA in science education from Stanford University. For over a decade, she has worked to increase awareness about Earth and environmental science issues. She has taught Earth science for The Johns Hopkins University's Center for Talented Youth and worked with the US State Department teaching Egyptian students outside of Cairo, Egypt. Amelia has taught both Earth and environmental science at Los Gatos High School for the past 10 years. She created and teaches the AP Environmental Science course at LGHS. Through that course she has given hundreds of students the opportunity to explore their environment through service- learning, long- term data collection from local waterways and regional and international field trips. Dr. Jomar Rabajante talks about the concepts of the Black Swan and the Red Queen in the field of science. He reminded us that in facing tragedies and disasters, there is a need to assess the root cause, decide based on evidence and data, map scenarios, and invest in knowledge to minimize the impact of the Black Swan and the Red Queen. Dr. Rabjanate is a Professor and UP Scientist at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences and Physics, University of the Philippines Los Baños; and an affiliate faculty member of the Faculty of Education, UP Open University. He was one of the proponents and co-chair of the first and only PhD Applied Mathematics program in the Philippines. As part of his advocacy in quantitative sciences, Dr. Jomar Rabajante created education models for DOST-SEI STEM activities, and was interviewed by various news agencies. He is also a reviewer of several international and local journals and grants. What would our oceans look like without oxygen? In her talk, Assistant Professor of Oceanography, Veronique Oldham will introduce us to three chemical reactions that changed the course of history, and shaped our chemical world as we know it. Vero began her scientific career as a student of chemistry, in Toronto, Ontario Canada. After working in and around lakes and forests, Vero took to the seas in Bermuda, working as a research technician on the chemistry of metals in seawater. There, Vero cemented a desire to pursue academic research in the field of Chemical Oceanography. Vero completed her PhD in oceanography at the University of Delaware, then a Post-Doctoral Scholarship at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, before starting as an Assistant Professor of Oceanography at URI’s Graduate School of Oceanography. Today, Vero researches reactions at zones of intense redox chemistry like the coastal ocean, hydrothermal vents, and polar systems. When she’s not out snooping for cool chemistry, Vero is out at the beach with her corgi Mortadella trying to learn to surf, or having a beer somewhere new! The co-founder and CTO of Fourandsix Technologies, an image authentication and forensics company, Hany Farid works to advance the field of digital forensics. Hany said, “For the past decade I have been working on technology and policy that will find a balance between an open and free Internet while reining in online abuses. With approximately a billion Facebook uploads per day and 400 hours of video uploaded to YouTube every minute, this task is technically and logistically complicated but also, I believe, critical to the long-term health of our online communities.� Hany is the Albert Bradley 1915 Third Century Professor and Chair of Computer Science at Dartmouth. There are over 1,000 native bee species in the state of Arizona. Ranging from the size of an eyelash to larger than a thumb, these beautiful and intriguing creatures are responsible for the majority of pollination that happens in wild landscapes, urban gardens, and agricultural fields. Though the relationship between bees and flowers seems elegant, and is essential to the functioning of any ecosystem, it is fraught with all the intricacies and manipulations of a Shakespeare play. In this talk, Dr. Carril will introduce her audience to Arizona's native solitary bees and explore the relationships of these bees with the flowering plants on which they depend –and which depend on them. BIO: Dr. Olivia Carril has been studying native bees for over 25 years. She received her BS and MSc from Utah State University, and a PhD from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. She is the coauthor of three books: The Bees in Your Backyard, a Field Guide to North America's Bees; The Common Bees of Eastern North America; and the soon to be released Common Bees of Western North America. She is currently conducting several large scale surveys of bees throughout the western United States, and studying several rare plants in New Mexico. In her spare time, she teaches science to middle schoolers, and hangs out with her two adorable daughters and her handsome husband.

The integration of multi-robot systems into a unified networked and communication framework, offers a plethora of benefits across various application domains: from enhancing efficiency of the system to enabling collaboration and coordination among robots, from improving operations flexibility to offering fault tolerance and resilience. The objective of the research of practitioners in this field aims at creating autonomous swarms of terrestrial, aerial, marine and underwater devices, able to perform complex missions while collaborating intelligently in the achievement of common tasks. However, these benefits and potential applications are counterbalanced by the research, design and implementation challenges that a networked robotic system must overcome, in terms of reliability, scalability and orchestration of the communications, but also in the middleware design, as well as in the interoperability and standardization of communication technologies and protocols. This talk dived into advantages, challenges and perspectives of networked robotics and communication system addressing research and development aspects charting interdisciplinary paths forward to realize multi-robot systems' full potential.
