About This Collection

Founder Kenny Ausubel coined the term Bioneers in 1990 to describe an emerging culture. Bioneers are social and scientific innovators from all walks of life and disciplines who have peered deep into the heart of living systems to understand how nature operates, and to mimic "nature's operating instructions" to serve human ends without harming the web of life.

The Bioneers Conference is a leading-edge forum presenting breakthrough solutions for people and planet. Check out Bioneers on YouTube.

The Path Home: Restoring Native Lands and Traditional Ecological Knowledge

Colonial oppression severely damaged the relationship between tribal communities and their traditional lands. However, a new generation of First Nations activists is now working to restore these vital connections.

These activists are dedicated to safeguarding Indigenous identity for future generations. Their efforts include protecting traditional territories and sacred sites, while also renewing Indigenous land stewardship practices.

Key figures in this movement include Eriel Deranger (Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation), Valentin Lopez (Amah Mutsun Tribal Band), and Cara Romero (Mohave-based Chemehuevi Tribe).
