African Feminist Perspectives on COP27 and Beyond September 20, 2022 As the world prepares for COP27 in Egypt during the UN General Assembly and Climate Week, African feminist leaders are calling for a different path forward demanding urgent climate action from governments centered on justice and rights. During this event we heard from women leaders from Africa sharing struggles, analysis, solutions and successful on the ground projects. The voices and solutions of African women leaders could not be more important in the lead up to COP27! Speakers included: -- Neema Namadamu, Founder, Synergy of Congolese Women’s Associations (SAFECO), and Democratic Republic of Congo Coordinator, Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN), DR Congo -- Rita Uwaka, Forest & Biodiversity Program Coordinator, Friends of the Earth Africa (FoEA), Nigeria -- Sostine Namanya, Gender & Food Security Projects Officer, National Association of Professional Environmentalists (NAPE), Uganda -- Anne Songole, Climate Justice Coordinator, The African Women’s Development and Communications Network (FEMNET), Kenya -- Comments and Moderation by Osprey Orielle Lake, Executive Director, Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN) This event was held as part of the Women’s Earth and Climate Action Network (WECAN) three-day Climate Justice Forum: “Facing the Climate Emergency on the Road to COP27: Solutions and Perspectives from Global Women and Gender Diverse Leaders,” September 20-22.

On y suit un jeune garçon autochtone dans un rite de passage autochtone, soit la quête de la vision. Durant son cheminement spirituel, il rencontre sept animaux sacrés qui lui enseignent comment les humains devraient vivre leur vie sur la Terre mère. En partenariat avec le Turtle Lodge, un centre international pour l’éducation et le bien-être des Autochtones situé dans la réserve de la Première Nation Sagkeeng et IG Gestion de patrimoine, Manitoba 150 est fier de présenter une série de courts métrages d’animation sur les sept enseignements sacrés. The circular economy is an economic model focused on eliminating waste and inefficiency and promoting greater resource productivity. The carbon footprint of wasted food is approximately 3.3 billion tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) released into the atmosphere on an annual basis. The shift to a circular economy is not only about managing waste—it presents a new economic paradigm for rethinking how we design, use, and reuse our resources (both products and services), with an estimated economic output potential of USD $4.5 trillion per year by 2030.

The COVID-19 pandemic showed in many cases all the drawbacks of the present economic model- the linear economy (‘take-make-dispose’). Facilitated by Shared Value Foundation, join us at the B Corp Climate Summit on [Date + Time] to explore how long-term thinking that applies a circular economy lens could help establish a more resilient and sustainable business.

The session will focus on:
- What is the essence of applying circular economy principles in managing food waste?
- How are businesses involved in food adopting circularity principles and business models to become more resilient over the long term?
