The forum, hosted by the City of Boulder with Bioneers as a partner, features global discussions on the economy's role in climate.

Speakers included Lolita Jackson, former NYC lead climate strategist who shaped the city's energy transition, and Robert Hockett, a Cornell Law professor who advised Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on the Green New Deal and authored "Financing the Green New Deal." Colorado State Senator Steve Fenberg, a champion of climate legislation, also participated as a local panelist.

Erik Sten, City Commissioner, discussed the city's program. Genevieve Nelson, co-founder of Sisters of The Road, shared insights from a survey of 400 homeless individuals. Lisa Schroeder, a business owner and co-chair of the Downtown Retail Council, provided the downtown business perspective.

Leaders will discuss its historical journey, current challenges, and its link to collective rights, including Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC). They will also address practical steps for policymakers, states, and corporations to align with diverse global expressions of self-determination.

Additional topics include advancing self-determined priorities, overcoming challenges for self-determination's inclusion in the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), and navigating autonomy within this framework.

Dr. Jonathan Kolby, long fascinated by reptiles and amphibians, is dedicated to preventing their extinction in Honduras. A global chytrid fungus outbreak severely threatens frog populations, especially in cloud forests like Cusuco National Park.

Kolby founded the Honduras Amphibian Conservation and Rescue Center to treat sick frogs from Cusuco, preparing them for reintroduction. His mission also includes sharing Honduras' incredible biodiversity and fostering greater involvement of local students in conservation.
