Business networks and policymakers gathered to discuss policies enabling businesses to scale solutions for current 'polycrises,' including the energy crisis, and enhance the EU economy's competitive sustainability.

Key speakers included officials from the European Commission (Yvon Slingenberg, Ruth Reichstein), European Parliament (Pascal Canfin, Nicolás González Casares), and national ministries (Tomas Lindman, Peter Wittoeck). JP Viñals joined Activists Coming To Inform Our Neighborhood (ACTION) in 2013 to address environmental and social issues in Hunts Point, South Bronx. The neighborhood, home to New York's largest food distribution center, endures 15,000 daily trucks, causing severe air pollution and some of the nation's highest asthma rates.

As ACTION's president, Viñals focused on transforming the defunct 1.25-mile Sheridan Expressway into a vibrant boulevard. This expressway restricts access to the Bronx River and green spaces, forcing heavy truck traffic onto local streets, harming residents and contributing to pollution. ACTION supports a broader campaign to replace it with housing, hospitals, and green areas, leading school presentations and community education efforts.

One key panel, “Divestment Movements & Transitioning Away From Fossil Fuels,” held on June 26th, included experts such as Roishetta Sibley-Ozane, Heffa Schücking, Olivia Bisa Tirko (Chapra), Ayumi Fukakusa, and Michelle Cook (Diné). They discussed accelerating a bold, transformative path away from fossil fuels.

His distinguished career includes extensive research on the brain, particularly the visual cortex, and developing theories of consciousness. He notably collaborated with Francis Crick, co-discoverer of DNA's structure.

Koch served as a professor at Caltech for decades before becoming Chief Scientist and President of the Allen Institute for Brain Science, where he led pioneering brain mapping efforts. An influential figure, he has authored several books and speaks widely, advocating for a scientifically grounded approach to understanding the mind.

Malik Amin Aslam, Pakistan's Federal Minister of Climate Change and elected Global Vice President of IUCN, discusses government climate efforts. He previously chaired the "Green Growth initiative" in KPK, including the "Billion Tree Tsunami" project. As former Minister of State for Environment, he architected national climate policies.

Mr. Aslam has led Pakistan's climate change negotiations at various COP meetings since 1999 and advises the Chinese government on environmental policy on the Eco-Forum Global's International Advisory Council. He holds an MBA (McGill) and MSc (Oxford), researching emissions trading.
