A reforming constitutional lawyer and senator, Mary made history as Ireland's President in 1990. She then served as UN High Commissioner, fearlessly challenging human rights abuses worldwide. Today, she chairs The Elders, an independent group founded by Nelson Mandela, dedicated to peace and human rights.

Mary Robinson is the former President of Ireland, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and cofounder of Project Dandelion, a woman-led global campaign for climate justice. 

"This, I believe, is a significant signal of change, a sign, however modest, that we have already passed the threshold to a new pluralist Ireland. The recent revival of the old concept of the fifth province expresses this emerging Ireland of tolerance and empathy…"

Mary Robinson founded the Foundation bearing her name, dedicated to climate justice for vulnerable, marginalized populations worldwide. She served as President

Mary Robinson founded the Foundation bearing her name, dedicated to climate justice for vulnerable, marginalized populations worldwide. She served as President of Ireland (1990-1997) and UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (1997-2002).

A member of the Elders and the Club of Madrid, Robinson has received numerous honors, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In 2013, she was appointed UN Special Envoy for the Great Lakes region of Africa, and her memoir, *Everybody Matters*, was published.
