Dr. Cylita Guy completed her PhD at the University of Toronto, where she used machine learning and fieldwork to study bats and their viruses. Concurrently, as a CBC analyst, she examined Canadian digital news behavior and fostered curiosity about the natural world as a science communicator.

Currently, Cylita works as a data scientist and is writing her first children's book for Annick Press, due out in Fall 2021.

In an interview on "Dispatches from The Well," Jane discussed the significance of stories, recounting a childhood memory at age four. She patiently observed a hen laying an egg, an experience she views as foundational to becoming a scientist: asking questions, seeking answers, learning from mistakes, and developing patience.
