Premiered November 1, 2022, this discussion explores Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education. AI, defined as computer systems performing human-like tasks such as visual perception and speech recognition, is transforming education. It improves quality and access to knowledge, optimizing learning patterns and automating tasks for students and teachers.

In this AI for Good Perspectives event, Professor Mérouane Debbah, Chief Researcher at TII's AI and Digital Science Research Center, details how data and AI revolutionize education. He also addresses shaping national policies to advance equal learning, a core UN Sustainable Development Goal. Debbah is also a professor at CentraleSupélec and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence.

Darrel Moellendorf, professor of international political theory at Goethe University Frankfurt, maps the landscape of climate justice concerns in the Anthropocene, the new geological epoch defined by humanity’s impact on the natural world. Among the options for combatting climate change, he posits, are different types of geoengineering—new technologies to artificially cool the planet that come with their own trade-offs and risks.

Botanist, professor, and enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, Robin Wall Kimmerer is the acclaimed author of *Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants*. She is a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Environmental Biology and founder of the Center for Native Peoples and the Environment.

Kimmerer has been honored with the John Burroughs Medal and a MacArthur "genius" grant. Her research emphasizes the restoration of ecological communities and our relationship to land. She lives on an upstate New York farm, tending both cultivated and wild gardens.
