Assistant Professor Veronique Oldham will explore how three chemical reactions profoundly shaped our world, answering the question: "What would our oceans look like without oxygen?"

Dr. Oldham, an expert in Chemical Oceanography, began her career studying chemistry in Canada, then researched metals in seawater in Bermuda. After completing her PhD and post-doctoral work, she joined URI’s Graduate School of Oceanography. Her current research focuses on intense redox chemistry in coastal oceans, hydrothermal vents, and polar systems.
