Despite the fact that women are half the world’s population, male leaders still outnumber female leaders by four to one. By harnessing the power of data, we can identify pathways for women to pursue leadership, along with the positions they currently hold and the power they are able to exercise in those positions. We can then leverage that data to help change the institutions, systems and practices to put more women into leadership roles. Gwen Young is an international development specialist and advocate. She also has worked as a lawyer to develop exploitation- and sexual- and gender-based violence guidelines, and has trained women in human rights and economic empowerment. Gwen Young has devoted her career to humanitarian relief, international development, and human rights. As an attorney and public policy professional, Gwen has advocated for the role girls and women play in political, social, and economic development. She has trained women in advocacy, networking, management, and entrepreneurship in her roles with the International Rescue Committee, CARE, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. While working with Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders), Gwen developed guidelines to deal with sexual- and gender-based violence and exploitation. She has lived for over 10 years on the African continent, in a variety of conflict-ridden zones. Today, Gwen works to advance the role of women in government as the Director of the Wilson Center’s Global Women’s Leadership Initiative. The Initiative aims to ensure 50% representation of women in public-service leadership in governments across the globe by 2050. Have you thought about the journey of the clothes that you wear? Who made them, where were they made, and was the process kind to the environment? In the era of fast fashion, designer Pyone Thet Thet Kyaw, asks us to pause and think about ethical fashion. Pyone is the founder of Virya Myanmar, an ethical clothing brand based in Yangon. Her passion for ethical fashion originated from her personal experience at very young age when she witnessed exploitation in the industry. Since then she has been determined that she would one day establish a socially minded clothing brand, which is now called Virya , a social business committed to empowering young women from underprivileged backgrounds. Prior to being an entrepreneur, Pyone spent more than 10 years in development field as a Governance Adviser at UKAid in Yangon and a number of other professional positions in the development field. She studied in Canada as a Jeanne Sauve Scholar and in the United Kingdom as a Chevening Scholar. Young, conservative, Catholic, and stewards of the earth: this growing group is speaking up on climate change. In a radio interview with Ohio News Network, CCLer Topher Anderson explains that it is his Catholic faith and the teachings of Pope Francis that guide him to work on climate change. Topher just met with his Republican members of Congress in March of 2021. He's asking them to take action on climate change, using solutions that are consistent with conservative values. Topher believes these values of small government and belief in American ingenuity are needed to craft solutions that will work for all of America. Will Topher and other young Catholics have success? They're working on growing their numbers and making their voices heard. Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL) is a home for many people of faith, who approach their advocacy through creation care and being stewards of the earth. Stephen is a 22 year old from Pennsylvania who is co-founder and National Field Director of Sunrise Movement; an organization that is mobilizing a grassroots army of young people across the country

Stephen is a 22 year old from Pennsylvania who is co-founder and National Field Director of Sunrise Movement; an organization that is mobilizing a grassroots army of young people across the country to combat the corrupting influence of fossil fuel executives and lobbyists. Stephen is one of the organizers of the ‘Sunrise Semester’ a full-time fellowship program with 70 young people ready to go all-in to make climate change matter in the 2018 elections in five key states. The program combines campaigning for progressive champions with direct action in order to expose the influence of fossil fuel money. His work with Sunrise Movement is focused on encouraging youth to elect real leaders who can stop climate change and create millions of good jobs in the process. Stephen began organizing at Swarthmore College where he led a fossil fuel divestment campaign that received widespread media attention.
