Risk Sharing in the Climate Emergency: A call to action for insurers, regulators & governments
ClimateWise and the Association of British Insurers (ABI) hosted a COP26 event on November 3, 2021, titled "Risk Sharing in the Climate Emergency." The event convened senior representatives from insurance, regulatory bodies, and governments to discuss their crucial roles in addressing the global climate challenge.
The University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL) and ClimateWise presented actionable recommendations. Their work outlines priorities for urgently expanding risk sharing and insurance systems as an essential climate policy response. These recommendations provide a pathway to immediately quantify, manage, and reduce climate risks, and to integrate climate policy and regulation for a resilient, net-zero, and just transition across all economies.
