On November 18, at COP30 in Belém, Brazil, WECAN hosted "Women on the Frontlines of Climate Action." Global women leaders, including representatives from Africa, Colombia, Brazil, and Turtle Island, shared powerful insights. They addressed ending fossil fuels, ensuring rights-based Just Transition, advocating for Indigenous Peoples' rightful place, and building a just world.

At the conference, WECAN also launched its report, "Justice-Based Climate Finance for COP30 and Beyond." "Grounding Principles For Climate Justice, Rights, and Democracy" was a key panel at the Global Women's Assembly for Climate Justice: Path to COP30 and Beyond. Held on June 23, 2025, this session featured Osprey Orielle Lake (WECAN Executive Director), Casey Camp-Horinek (Ponca Nation, WECAN Board Member), and Zukiswa White (Social Justice Consultant).

The Women's Earth and Climate Network (WECAN) hosted the Assembly from June 23-28, 2025. It united over 125 grassroots and frontline women leaders, global advocates, and policymakers from 50 countries. Across 25 panels, participants presented diverse visions and strategies to accelerate a transformative path toward a healthy and just world.

On World Sea Turtle Day, Lilimar, Oceana, One More Generation, and children nationwide delivered over 12,500 letters and drawings to the White House. These messages urged President Obama and Secretary Penny Pritzker to protect threatened and endangered sea turtles in U.S. waters.

Representing all 50 states, the letters called for a simple solution: mandatory use of Turtle Excluder Devices (TEDs) in shrimp nets. These metal grates allow sea turtles and other marine life to escape, preventing their capture by shrimp trawls in the South Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico.

Implementing TEDs would save thousands of sea turtles, reduce seafood waste, and create new markets for U.S. shrimpers.
