Trudell served as spokesperson for the United Indians of All Tribes during the 1969 Alcatraz takeover, broadcasting as *Radio Free Alcatraz*. Throughout the 1970s, he chaired the American Indian Movement.

Dr. Hearin, who grew up in Daytona Beach, holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Ocean Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology, where he also served as an Assistant Research Professor. With over 15 years of active involvement, he currently chairs the Cocoa Beach chapter of the Surfrider Foundation.
